Returning for its 14th Festival performance in June, the
Milwaukee Symphony, led by resident conductor Andrew Massey, performed the
music of Aaron Copland, Leonard Bernstein, Morton Gould, Sergei
Rachmaninoff, and Gioachino Rossini. The program concluded with
Tchaikovsky's Overture 1812. |
The Dorf Kapelle is a perennial favorite at the park,
performing the music of Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic and more,
blended with lots of audience participation and fun! The second portion of
the 2005 program was opened, in traditional fashion, with an alphorn
serenade performed by (L to R) Jim Ninnemann, Marcie Ninnemann, and Jill
Wagner. |
Assistant Conductor Dale Shipe conducted the Symphonic
Band on July 27th in a program that featured the music of Andrew Lloyd
Webber and Alfred Reed. |
The Bill Allred Classic Jazz Band from Orlando performed
on August 3rd. The horn line shown here (L to R) includes Dale Mendenhall
on clarinet; Bobby Pickwood on trumpet; Charlie Bertini on trumpet; Bill
Allred on trombone; and John Allred on trombone . |
"Crazy Shirt Night" was among the many special
features of the Band's 26th annual Family Night on August 10th. Several
middle school students (in white shirts) were selected by their band
directors to perform with the band on a march. |
A Teddy Bear parade again delighted both children and
adults, as the little ones paraded around the park during Family Night to
the tune of Teddy Bear's Picnic. |
Once again the Kids from Wisconsin drew a HUGE audience,
estimated at near 5,000 on an idyllic summer night in August. |
As usual, the Kids from Wisconsin were poised, polished
and professional, as they performed music of many styles and eras. |
The Youth Group from Church of Our Saviour hosted the
concession stand at the closing concert, A Night in Old Vienna. 2005
marked the 30th year that Our Saviour's has provided a concession for the
summer concerts. |
The Symphonic Band is shown performing under the baton
of Maestro Ray C. Wifler at A Night in Old Vienna, the final concert at
the park of 2005. |
| A Band
rehearsal on Halloween, 2005, resulted in some strange sights in the WLA
bandroom!! Responding to an invitation to come in costume, several band
members answered the call, adding a silly touch to a usually-serious
gathering! |
