The Band’s membership includes a high proportion of music teachers and
highly-trained adult avocational musicians. While a majority of the Band’s
members come from the Fond du Lac area, some one-third or more are drawn from
communities in a 40-mile radius including Ripon, Mayville, Waupun,
Campbellsport, Oshkosh, and Appleton.
Membership in the school-year band is open to all post-high school
instrumentalists with previous playing experience. High school students are
occasionally admitted if they exhibit strong playing ability and are needed in
the Band. The Music Director assigns seating and parts, and informally auditions
new players to determine where they can best serve the Band.
The Summer Band is limited to 50 members who are chosen by the Music Director
based on musical ability, availability, and seniority.
